wonderful interview and thank you for posting! just read again about violette, in a NYT obituary of one of her former partners, oleg briansky. her generation shaped ballet in the U.S. like no other. immensely grateful and inspired to watch this interview. <3

Jill, thanks for your kind comments. I finally got around to releasing a photo book journal this month, 'Stars of American Ballet.' Violette was the first star to appear with the company and four years later did her final perfromance with 'Stars.' She was a wonderful dancer and equally a wonderful person who brought joy to everyone she met. ua-cam.com/video/m7yTBNa8l-8/v-deo.html

Too bad Mr. Traynor never paid for what he did to this woman and encouraged those who worked on the 8mm loops and x-movies of her not to tell the truth. Unquestionably Linda was a charming woman despite what she suffered and lived, she was a very strong woman.

Hi Madeline, just noticed where the comments are published. Long time to reply, but there were two dancers that played Tommy. one was blond and the other brunette. Yes, it was mesmerzing, unfortunately never filmed, only an amateur filming of a rehearsal that's on my UA-cam channel. The production went on for two years across America with a few return engagements at the City Center. I referrence it in my new photo book, 'Stars of American Ballet.'

Does anyone know if the entire show was filmed? I have scene these pro filmed, probably 16mm, clips before that I think were done for new coverage and advertisements, but I have also seen black and white video footage of the ballet that was included in a Who/Tommy documentary released in the 90's on VHS. This ballet is something I would do anything to see.
